Press release — 3 February 2006

Sir Jackie Stewart to launch new Investment Network at Silverstone

Oxford Innovation today announced that Sir Jackie Stewart, President of British Racing Drivers Club, will be the Guest Speaker at the Official Launch of Silverstone Investment Network on 22 February at Silverstone Innovation Centre.

Silverstone Investment Network is a new investment network that will help technology companies, including companies within the motorsport industry, raise business development funding from investors in Northamptonshire and surrounding areas. The Network will hold quarterly investment meetings at Silverstone Innovation Centre where selected entrepreneurs will pitch their business proposals to an audience of investors.

Silverstone Investment Network will be managed by Oxford Innovation, operators of three successful investment networks in Oxfordshire and the Thames Valley, and of Silverstone Innovation Centre. It has also attracted strong support from a range of Northamptonshire organisations, with Invest Northamptonshire, as lead sponsor, and co-sponsorship provided by Northamptonshire County Council, West Northamptonshire Development Corporation, BKR Haines Watts, accountants, Howes Percival, solicitors, and Marks & Clerk, patent agents.

The Launch Event is expected to attract over 100 attendees to an investment meeting featuring five selected companies and a reception. Guests will include the board of BRDC, Charles Wake, the High Sheriff of Northamptonshire; Mrs Paddy Hopkirk, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire and Ian Laing, the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, as well as investors and leading representatives from businesses and other organisations in Northamptonshire. Guests will also have the option to join a backstage tour of Silverstone Circuit before the meeting.

Dr David Kingham, Chief Executive of Oxford Innovation, said: “We are delighted that the concept of Silverstone Investment Network will soon be a reality and we are honoured that Sir Jackie Stewart has kindly agreed to speak at the Official Launch.

The creation of this new Network for Northamptonshire follows a successful trial investment meeting last September which attracted over 80 attendees. We hope that Silverstone Investment Network will provide a forum where entrepreneurs can raise the capital they need to grow their businesses, and that it will meet the significant investor demand in the county for access to investment opportunities in high growth potential companies.

The Network has attracted investors, organisations and professional firms from across Northamptonshire and I would particularly like to thank the sponsoring organisations for their strong support.”

Paul Taylor, Chief Executive of Invest Northamptonshire, said: “Northamptonshire has ambitious growth plans and we need to encourage entrepreneurs to build their businesses here. The Launch of Silverstone Investment Network marks an important step forward.”
